Overview

Accounting+ is an initiative from the Center for Audit Quality designed to introduce teens and younger audiences to accounting and help them explore it as a potential career. The challenge was figuring out how to take a traditionally technical subject and make it feel more approachable, engaging, and relevant to a younger audience.

Our team designed a website filled with resources and interactive content. Alongside maintaining the site’s design, I also created videos and visual assets for Accounting+’s social media channels.

Solution

We built the site around a bold, playful visual style that could make accounting feel more approachable to a younger audience.

Rather than relying on long blocks of educational copy, we introduced interactive flip cards, content walls, and other visual components that allowed users to explore information in smaller, more engaging pieces. Quizzes and gamification elements, including earnable badges, turned educational content into more active experiences and encouraged users to continue exploring the platform.

The platform connected educational content with practical next steps like interview preparation, internships, and scholarships. We looked to sites like Indeed and LinkedIn for inspiration, paying attention to how they presented job opportunities and benefits. We took those ideas and adapted them into a visual format that made internships and scholarships easy to understand and apply to.

Alongside the site design, I created graphics, videos, and other visual assets for Accounting+’s social media. These social posts were frequent and varied, so in designing them, a priority of mine was to keep the visual language consistent with the site and the broader branding of the program.

Results

Accounting+ grew into a high-engagement digital platform for connecting students and young professionals with accounting education and career opportunities. The platform has generated more than 200,000 personal accounts and 5.5 million page views in Q1 2024, with 84% of traffic coming from mobile devices.
